Copa NOVA – Rules and Regulations

In general, Copa NOVA Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championships closely follow the rules governed by the IBJJF. There may be subtle differences between the two, so please refer to the rules section of the Pre-Registration Kit for an accurate description of Copa NOVA’s rules and regulations.

*SAFETY IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY – Please respect our referees as well as the calls they make. Referees have the final decision in any match.  There are no exceptions to this rule.

Prior to competition, we will hold a mandatory competitor/referee meeting to make sure any and all questions are answered.  To facilitate this process, please download and study the rules & regulations within the Pre-Registration kit.  Feel free to contact your instructor, coach, or teammate if any rule is unclear.  Bring up any unanswered questions at the competitors/referees meeting.
